  1. What makes a musical a "good" musical is the emotion in the music! what separates a musical from a simple play is the music. It helps to get all of the emotions that the actors are trying to portray out into the open in a format that everyone can understand, and relate to.
Magic, put simply, is the relationships between characters. In a good musical the relationships should be strong, realistic, and most of all defined.

  2. A good musical needs actors, lighting, and choeographers. The magic I think that makes the musical is the emotions of the singers and dancers, and of course the special effects. When the actors are all coorodinated they move with together like a well oiled machine, which makes the musical awesome.

  3. I believe a good musical is made up of many different qualities. Not only should the music and the singing be good, but the plot or story line has to be good as well. I enjoy watching musicals that have a lot of comedy to them, and a lot of romance. I think all musicals should be able to relate to people even in the slightest bit. For example, the musical "Spring Awakening" is really popular because it relates to people. Like many performances I watch, and performances I like, contain the quality "magic". I think that a musical has that magic quality when it gives me goosebumps. I have no idea, why but I get goosebumps when I watch a good musical. The definition of magic is hard to explain from my point of view, but the feeling of goosebumps, is the best way to explain it. :)

  4. To make a good musical there should be numerous things like good music, characters (That are likeable), acting, group numbers, singing, and dancing. All of this should be accompinied by a good set of cast members who are willing to put their time into the musical Without one of these the musical would not be good. The "Magic" in a musical should be (In my opinion) a thrilling story, great effects, and wonderful characters.

  5. I think what makes a good musical is the ability of the performers to act and sing well. Although this is a main part of it, one should also express a great deal of emotion through their acting and singing. What makes a good musical, is also having a good storyline. I really enjoy compelling storylines because it makes me feel like I'm actually living it. When a story has the ability to make me sad, or maybe even cry, then I know that the storyline is very good and it captured my attention.

  6. A good "musical" consists of a good plot that has stories behind it, such as history. The music also counts because what makes it a musical if there's no music? Ensemble songs also create excitement for the play because it involves more than one cast member. The characters also determine the "magic" of a musical because of the personalities and relationships. The actors and actresses should also enjoy themselves while performing because the audience can notice those types of things. Every detail of a musical is apart of the "magic."

  7. To me a good musical just envolves good music. It has got to be able to hold the shortest attention span for the longest amount of time. It needs to have amazing actors along with amazing vocals. take Kristen Chenoweth for example. She has incredible range and has as background is just simple acting. She destroyed her part as Glinda in Wicked. (*destroyed being a good thing) Everything just needs to be well written. I don't know what exactly creates a good play. But I think the actors are the most major part.

  8. The magic in a good musical to me, is that it has to grab you. A good plot is the one you don't see coming yet something you can relate too. I enjoy some jokes in between to keep the audience entertained and enjoyable characters, even the ones who play the villain. The score for the music sometimes depends on who the listener is, some like rock, some like opera. However, even if you have an amazing story or music what gives the magic is everyone who worked so hard creating it to take you into another world.

  9. I think a good musical has a variety of songs with different tempo, feeling, and range to keep the audience wanting more. If a musical only features slow songs with a sad or serious vibe, the audience is most likely going to get bored. A good musical also needs to have people that are dedicated to their character who perform all out. If the actors are good, then the show is good.

  10. I feel that I good musical captures their audience right from the beginning, a good musical can make you cry, make you laugh all in one show.
You can be so into a good musical that you don't feel that your even in a show.
