  1. This video is actually very interesting because we just learned about it. I liked it, but i was kinda confused because I didn't understand what the story was about.
But it looked interesting with the props that they used like in the beginning when they used the cardboard boat and people, i thought it was really cool.
Another interesting thing about this is that it shows how they only showed some of the show so that people would wanna come again and see some more.

  2. This clip was really cute because it was old fashioned and I love watching these kinds of things. I do not really know what the story is about, so I do not really understand what is going on in this scene. All I know is that it seems like there is going to be some drama in the scenes to come. It was really different seeing a black and white clip because I am so used to seeing movies in color instead of black and white. The accents were so so cute on the girls, that's something I don't hear everyday. :)

  3. My opinion of the clip Showboat was that it was awesome. I liked the very beginning of the clip. The stage was made to look like a showboat which seems really advanced for that time era. That must have taken a lot of time to construct. I thought it was interesting. Normally black and white clips don’t keep my attention very long but this one did. I liked the costumes the characters wore. I found it funny how the “Mr. Hooks” guy kept emphasizing that the showboat was one big happy family. I found this clip to be enjoyable.

  4. it was a relatively interesting clip i didn't really understand anything of this but i did like the opening credits they were interesting i really liked how they had all those cardboard cut outs revolving around i wish i understood more about this clip though i looks like a very nice play so i guess it was a very popular play in this time.

  5. This show (The Showboat) was very interesting in my opinion. The opening was very cool, with the cardboard cut outs, and the background music was very up beat and bubbly. The actors (There was quite a few of them)used a lot of hand and body motions to go with their clear and projected voice. Overall this movie scene was a pretty good movie scene for a black and white show (Which I haven't seen a lot of.

  6. The showboat on youtbe is awesome, but it was so confusing. It at leat looked pretty neat and they got creative with the props like a cardboard boat. Well besides the confusing story, I kind of liked it, though they should've used better props, but thats just my opionon.

  7. Well first thing, the intro took friggin forever!! And I got bored extremely fast. But dude, there stage props were amazing! there was so much detail. It was frikin awesome! I also thought it was hilarious how the guy stole tht girls poster off the wall. I didnt really like it because the whole time all i was trying to do was guess the colors of what the people were wearing. I dont have the attetion span for this video and it didnt hold it.

  8. This acting style is much much different then our modern acting. The words, inflection, every thing is different. I love how it highlights the interactions between the members of the traveling crew of the showboat. It reminds me of the traveling “Minstals” that Mr. Josh talked about in his lecture on the history of acting. I love how it shows a group of people in a different time and place.

  9. First of all, it looks like a classic movie. I was a bit confused when the beginning was playing until I realized that the paper parade was showing the credits. Even by watching the clip, I don't understand what's going on. I like the costumes and the personalities of the people. I like the fact that a lot of people are involved even if they're just background people. I am sort of interested to watch the rest of the movie, but not really. It sort of gives me the excitement that the Wizard of Oz gives me.

  11. I found it interesting that this video was classical, and it was also in black and white. I'ver heard of Showboat before, but I've never seen it before and I don't know what it is about. I thought the beginning credits were pretty creative. And I was wondering what was going on when everybody were watching the boat coming into the harbor. This was more like a movie, that had singing scenes in it. I thought that the dancing with the couple was also very cool and it was well choreographed.

  12. From watching the 8 minute clip of Showboat, I noticed that the actors and actresses react as well as act over dramatically. I think of it as a good thing though because it made some parts humorous and enjoyable to watch. I didn't quite understand what was going on until the guy presented that they were there to put on a show. That's when I started to become interested in the video. The colored lady that laughed in the middle of the video was my favorite part.
