The Tony Awards! One of my favorite award ceremonies. Jesus, I've been seeing and hearing plenty of West Side Story, but luckily, I enjoy West Side Story, and they performed one of my favorite songs from the soundtrack. The Shrek part wow-ed me because I was unaware of how it would be as a musical. Anyways, I love the variety of this opening number. I wish to be sitting as a part of the audience at the Tony Awards someday.
ReplyDeleteI loved the opening number for the tony awards! All of the small parts in the opening number was great. Each part was smoothly transitiond into, with no noticable problems (Except that lady who was backstage warming up her voice). I liked when "Tonight"(Is that the right name?)from West Side Story and "Luck be a Lady" from Guys and Dolls collaberated. The dance in the beginning was also cool, with the spinning chairs and stuff. This was an enjoyable video to watch, and maybe one day I could sit in the audience during the Tony Awards.
ReplyDeleteAHHHHH the Tony Awards AHHHHH
ReplyDeleteOMg ok
I love to tony Awards, and the opening this year was very interesting, if you didn't notice that during the Rock of Ages song towards the ending the lead singer gets hit by the scrim that's descending. But the one thing that I didn't like was that they gave Liza a longer time then the others.
I loved the opening of the 2009 tony awards. I've never actually seen the tony awards, but I've alwasy known what they are. I think the very first part was amazing. Elton John is amazing, and I think the ballerina's in the performance were amazing. Especially with the chairs, that was just amazing. And I liked how they through in the west side story thing. It's one of the most known broadway plays. And then i liked how they had Lisa Manilli. Shes kind of liked the broadway queen in my opion. And its nice to see that after all of these years shes still got it.
ReplyDeleteThe part that interested me the most, I have to say was the spinny chairs. Whatsit called... the opening number? I honestly think it's pretty flippin' awesome. I'm proud that there're dudes out there in this world who ain't afraid of dancin' ballet in front of a massive audience. At first I was freaking out at the part during the first song when the ballet dude lifted othe other up and he was like flying through the air. That was pretty darn amazing. And then I noticed the line that held him up. >_>
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I've never been a huge fan of musicals, so I don't know how to opinionate the numbers based on comparisons with each other. But... I do think that the West Side Story piece was okay, all things considered. They picked pretty good actors, with good voices. By the way, who's Tony?
The Opening of the tony awards were the best. I've seen the tony awards before, but this was one of the best I've seen. Elton Jhon was amazing and the ballerina was so graceful. I thought it was virtually impossible when the ballet dancer lifted the other up, that is, until they hit the light and the invisible line was found. By the way, why is it named "the Tony awards", did a old guy named tony open them or what?
ReplyDeleteThe amount of talent in this performance was simple astounding. I loved the dancing in the beginning for the Billy Elliot number, the idea of dancing with the chairs and constantly keeping them in motion was beautiful. The number from west side story was amazingly sung as always. The guitarist in the rock of ages number was great and so was the singer. The Shrek number was surprisingly good for what it was. And though I greatly dislike dolly pardon, she had an amazing performance.
ReplyDeleteThe entire performance was amazing.

Oh my gosh! Billy Elliotttt!!! I love Billy Elliot the musical! Mostly because there is a lot of ballet in it and the background story is amazing and touching. The song that did was my favorite song in the musical. It was so cool! Anyways, West Side Story was on it, is awesome too! The Tony Awards is amazing, I really need to start watching it when it comes on. I can't wait for next years opening number!
ReplyDeleteI loved this video! I found it amazing and astonishing that he was spinning the chair while he was performing ballet. That was so awesome! A person would have to be very coordinated, and very skilled in order to pull off something like that. I also really enjoyed Elton John's performance on the piano. The group dancing scenes were excellent. There were so many performances from many different people. And they were very good. I liked the technical work involved as well. Including when Pinocchio's nose grew larger.
ReplyDeleteThat was sure a collection of musicals for an opening number. Elton John, West Side Story, and Shrek were the only performances that I was somewhat familiar with. I love all of Elton John performances, so I really enjoyed that he was the first part of the whole opening number. I kind of got bored of the Rock of Ages performance and the one where it was just that lady in black singing, but besides those, I liked it.
ReplyDeleteThis video was really cool. The beggining was interesting. The boy spinning the chair with one hand. That looked like it must have taken a lot of practicing. And then when the preformer was thrown in the air that was so cool. There were a lot of great preformances in this video. I've never actually seen the Tony Awards which made this clip even more intersting for me. Now, I really think I should start watching the Tony Awards; this clip has made me interested =).
ReplyDeleteHow I wish I didn't miss the Tony Awards this year, I found the opening numbers very entertaining. Since this was my first time seeing most of these shows, I was happy to see West Side Story there. The dancing in Billy Elliot was incredible. What talent and coordination it takes to spin the chair and dance at the exact same time. I also though costuming in Shrek was well done. I felt sorry for the people in Tonight and Luck be a Lady because the mic system was acting up on them, however they acted like they took no notice.
