Blog 80 words- What are some of the key things that you took away from watching "The making of Miss Saigon" video?

Overall, "The Making of Miss Saigon" was interesting. The whole process of creating a musical requires plenty of determination, cooperation, and money. I caught myself being bored at moments, but that was just during the beginning progress, a.k.a. the auditions until Lea's appearance.
ReplyDeleteMemorization! Oh lord, memorization! Remembering your song(s)! Remembering your script! Remembering your dance numbers! Remembering everything! Being prepared to rehearse should be a no brainer, but not through my thick skull. I need to develop confidence and concentrate on focusing.
Mm yeah, but thank you Mr. Duhaylonsod for showing these videos to our class because I doubt I would've taken the time to watch eight 10 minute videos on my own.
Ahh . . . .
ReplyDeleteThe miss Saigon video was amazing. The biggest thing I took away from the video as it relates to me was memorization. It helped me realize that there is NO excuse for not knowing your lines and music be heart by the time you start rehearsing in earnest. It also helped me realize how small in the scheme of things the actors are, and how long it actually takes to write and produce a show. Thank you for showing us this Mr. Josh.

"The Making of Miss Saigon" documentary was really interesting. I think it is amazing how much work is put into the show even before the people are cast. It takes a really long time to put a script together, and on top of that write songs to make sure the musical is portrayed the way the directors want it to be seen. I really liked watching the auditioning process, and I learned that you have to be really prepared to go to an audition. You have to be calm, relaxed, and very approachable from the beginning because first impressions do matter. I also learned that everybody must be in shape for the show, not just main roles, EVERYBODY has to be in shape. I thought it was pretty cool that everyone got to work out together. There is a lot of work put into the musicals, from the creation to opening night. It is overwhelming to know the process of what goes on, because it must take forever to complete!
ReplyDeletei got that it rakes a lot of people a lot of money and a lot of time to make a good musical and good actors but a lot of it is dependent on the actors they need to remember there lines there dances and there scenes its also very dependent on the casting crew if they didnt pick a good cast then it would automatically a bad play
ReplyDeleteI learned that writing musicals and getting them on broadway is a very slow process and takes lots of money. It is a lot more hardwork and dedication than I had previously thought. I learned that the interview is just as important as the song you sing. I never knew that so much work went in a musical. I thought it was like a year or two process type thing. There are so many more people envolved in making a broadway musical than i thought. Especially a successeful one.
ReplyDeleteI believe that makeing a musical is harder than it looks, theirs more than just music and acting involved, we as the audience only see the final product, what we dont see is all the work and dedication that goes it to making a show. Miss Saigon took about 4 years to create, thats four years of looking for the perfect cast.
ReplyDeleteBeing in your character is verry important, right from the beginning you need to know your character without having the director watch you and tell you what to do.
By watching Miss Saigon, I learned that the audition process can be very lengthy and ongoing until the right people are found. Auditions are important the find the right people to play the role. The preparation process preparing for the actual shows can also be very long. These videos showed me some of the things to be endured while creating a show. I also loved the technology that was showcased in the show. The lights seemed to be very high tech and professional. Lights are important because they help to move the story along.
ReplyDeleteWhat I learned from the Miss Saigon videos was that the audition process is intimidating and requires a lot of hard work. Also if we were to make it in the show, then that requires even more dedication. We would have to pick up things (Theoretically)fast. We need to know our stuff from the beginning, since we could get replaced easily (Like you said actors are small parts in a show). I learned a lot from these videos.
ReplyDeleteFrom watching the Miss siagon movie I learned a lot. I learned a lot about what goes into the making of musicals. I learned that the actors which I thought were really important are not really that important. All of the other details taht go into the making of the musical are more important. I also learned that the actors must be in shape. I learned that the actors must work out together during the making of the musical.
ReplyDelete"The making of miss Saigon" was very interesting, i enjoyed it ^^. I never realized how much work it takes to create something that big.I liked watching there progress as they went from a low point to the highest point possible!! All of that must of took FOREVER!!! Anyway it was awesome :D
ReplyDeleteWell, I loved the way the videos began, and took a special liking to the way the studio producer dudes put so much time and effort forward in order to find an actress worthy of the title of "Miss Saigon." It made me realize that directing a production is a real art, and is extremely difficult. I can appreciate all the higher-ups of movie-making now for what they've been doing.
ReplyDeleteBut, I did start to lose interest after they started rehearsing. The lighting and stuff was cool, but I gotta say, I'm still not the type to get into the acting part. I don't believe I'll ever be going down that road. It looks pretty boring to me. :/
I was really fascinated with the making of Miss Saigon. I never realized how long the process to make a big production like that took. The directors and creators of Miss Saigon really needed to be determined to get the project done. I learned that the people working with the Miss Saigon production needed to be prepared and dedicated or they would just simply get someone else to do it, but it seemed like the directors spend extra long to make sure they found the right people so they wouldn't need to go through that kind of trouble. So I thought it was really neat to see how it first began and where it is now. I'd like to see this musical someday.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching the Making of Miss Saigon, to the point that when I got home I felt like watching some of it again. Seeing behind the scenes of anything is always entertaining to me. It was a great reminder of how much you need to learn and quickly or your out. Don't forget to stay in shape! Or you have 30 second dress change! What shocked me the most is that the auditions process could take that long, I thought at most it was 2-3 months.
ReplyDeleteIf anything I have learned two major things. One, is to be confidant like Lea Salonga. And two, I will never, ever be late or forget something for rehearsals again.
