Blog 80 words- We've been exploring ETUDE's and learning about scene work. Express your opinons on what we have learned. What are your views about actors? Have they altered from before? When you watch a play or a movie scene do you notice the topics we have been working on?

The last two classes (Before watching West Side Story) have been a smack-in-the-face with education on acting. Acting looks simple, but is damn complicated. Every detail of your performance matters, so it's important to be aware of where you stand and how you express yourself. I admire actors and actresses for all the talent they hold. I always admired them from the beginning because even holding a serious face is tough. Ever since these acting activities and lectures, I've been paying close attention and observing actors and actresses in movies, t.v. shows, and plays. Emotion is one of the most important things to control. The way you express your emotion helps explain the scene you're in. But pass all of these complicated issues, I love acting.
ReplyDeleteI think the things we learned with ETUDE's have been very helpful. We have learned so much. Like how the first 5 seconds are the most important. It sets the scene. I learned to pay more attetion to details through the script work. I dont think my views have changed very much. Except in some actors cases. I can now notice better the difference between a good actor and a bad actor. And the different styles. I dont think i watch enough different types of television shows to notice all the things we have been working on. BUt I'll keep my eyes open for them.
ReplyDeleteI have learned much, much more about character acting than I knew before. Before this class all I knew was character acting, but josh has changed my views on how to prepare for a role greatly. I also admire actors and musicians much more. This class helped me to realize how hard acting and musicianship really is. Thanks to this class I have been spotting all sorts of acting techniques in the world around me, specifically in television and movies.

I absolutely love doing Etudes! They are so much fun! I learned a lot from etudes because it allows us to be more realistic. I learned that you can't always be spontaneous and over the top, like I am used to. It is important to make sure to make the scene as realistic as possible. In movies and shows, I notice a lot of the things that we learned are used in their acting. These actors are acting like everyday people. I find it hard to be more like a normal human because I tend to over think a lot of things. I really enjoy etudes and I hope to do more in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe etudes were very fun. I learned that a simple script could mean many different things, like the first one where there was a scene with spies (Me and my sister) and a scene with gangsters (Gray and Tiara). Also the things an actor does before really sets the scene and the way someone opens a door. My views on actors has changed greatly, as these elements are introduced, I understand why actors have to be committed to this.
ReplyDeleteUhm, I never had a view on many actors, and what I have learned about acting thus far is to keep it believable. It's definately much better that way, and I learned that movies have also grown and changed with us as well. I never took much interest at all in this topic before. XD Switching over to this class may be kinda fun, I think I'll definately enjoy learning something about this line of work, and perhaps look into it for myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat I noticed and learned from doing ETUDES and watching West Side Story is that the actors really need to be their character and not just act it. Being an actor doesn't seem like an easy job or profession at all now that I've been opened up to how it really works, they just make it seem easy. I realized that there's no room for being shy when it comes to theater and acting and this class has helped me a lot.
ReplyDeleteLearning about and performing the ETUDEs in class are very exciting. I learned through acting class that while performing an ETUDE, the moment before is very important because it lets the audience know the setting, and establishes the characters performing the sketches. Actors play a very important role, and I think that they come in a wide variety. Some actors perform very dramatically, while others perform more realistically. I think that actors in plays and musicals tend to perform more dramatically, while actors in movies perform as if they were in real life.
ReplyDeleteI think the things we have been learning during the ETUDES has been very helpful. I am learing a lot about how to make your preformance seem more "Real" or believeable. I think I have much more respect for actors and actresses than I had before. I didn't realize how much hard work and talent is involved to become a good actor or actress. And I also thought that to be more real you have to act more but I am learning that sometimes if you don't try to overly convey fake emotions it can seem more real.
